A closer look at the experience
From the centuries-old streets of Kashgar and Yarkand to the golden dunes of the Taklamakan Desert, and from brilliant blue alpine lakes to the winding roads of the Pamir Plateau—this seven-day overland journey brings together some of Southern Xinjiang’s most dramatic landscapes and living cultures.
We have deliberately arranged every departure so that Day 3 falls on a Sunday, allowing us to visit one of the region’s liveliest weekly markets. Rather than rushing between photo stops, the itinerary leaves time to walk through old neighbourhoods, sit inside traditional tea houses, experience local food and observe everyday life along the historic Silk Road.
This is a carefully organised small-group journey designed for our international guests, with comfortable private transport, English-speaking local guidance and no compulsory shopping stops.

Itinerary
Day 01
Arrival in Kashgar → Yarkand
Take your independently booked flight to Kashgar, where our local team will meet the group. After arrival, we begin the approximately 195-kilometre overland journey to Yarkand, historically known as Shache. The drive introduces the landscapes of Southern Xinjiang, where stretches of desert gradually give way to green oasis towns. After checking in and taking some time to rest, we head out in the evening to explore the lively Yarkand night market. This is our first introduction to the flavours of the region—grilled lamb, handmade noodles, samsa, yoghurt dishes and freshly baked naan—surrounded by music, conversation and local life. Day 02
Yarkand Heritage → N39 Desert
Today is dedicated to Yarkand, one of the most culturally significant towns on the southern Silk Road and the birthplace of the Twelve Muqam tradition. We begin in Yarkand Old City, walking through its narrow lanes, traditional earth-walled homes and local craft workshops. We will pause at a traditional tea house, where local tea, naan and music offer a slower introduction to the city’s culture. In the afternoon, we continue toward the N39 Desert area on the edge of the Taklamakan. Overnight: N39 Desert area Included meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
