*Millennium Actress* tells the story of a once-famous actress who, after years of living in seclusion, is interviewed by a documentary filmmaker. As the conversation unfolds, her memories begin to play out like a film—different eras and roles intertwine, and the boundaries between history, performance, reality, and imagination gradually fade. From pre-war years to post-war reconstruction, from turbulent history to the shifting world of cinema, she continues to pursue a distant yet deeply meaningful figure. This decades-long journey is not only about love, but also about choices, longing, and the search for purpose within both personal life and changing times.

R来自重庆，平时会看一些电影，也读一点小说和诗歌。 他接触过一些来自南斯拉夫、苏联、日本、欧洲和南美的作品，也还在慢慢了解和积累。其中对拉美文学稍微更感兴趣一些。 这次会以一个普通观众和主持人的身份参与，和大家一起看电影、简单聊一聊各自的感受。

R｜A film lover and reader from Chongqing

R is from Chongqing, and he enjoys watching films and reading a bit of fiction and poetry in his free time. He’s come across some works from Yugoslavia, the Soviet Union, Japan, Europe, and Latin America, and is still slowly exploring and learning. He’s a bit more into Latin American literature at the moment. This time, he’ll just join as a regular viewer and host—watching the film together with everyone and having a casual chat about how it feels and what people think.

🗣 What Will Happen at the Salon?｜活动流程介绍

电影沙龙将从签到、咖啡和主持人简要介绍开始，随后进行完整放映。

本次放映的电影为日本动画，原声为日语。我们会提供中文字幕和英文字幕，以方便中国朋友和来自不同国家的朋友一同观看与理解。

在观影后的讨论环节中，英语为推荐使用语言（preferred），但你也可以使用任何让自己感到舒适的语言进行交流，包括普通话。

这里不要求完美表达，也不强制发言。安静地倾听、思考、感受，同样是体验的一部分。

The Film Salon will begin with check-in, coffee, and a short introduction by the host, followed by the full screening.

The film screened will be a Japanese animated movie in its original Japanese audio. Chinese and English subtitles will be provided to accommodate both Chinese participants and international guests.

During the post-screening discussion, English is the preferred language. However, you are very welcome to speak in any language you feel comfortable with, including Mandarin.

There is no pressure to speak perfectly or participate actively. Listening, reflecting, and simply being present are also part of the experience.
